"Can’t Say Enough Good Things"

Can’t say enough good things about CoMitted 365 Roofing & Exteriors. I recently had a leak in my roof and they were able to put new shingles on in a week when no one else could come close to doing it so quickly. Jordan was great to work with and made sure everything went as smooth as possible. Thanks guys for making things so easy!

"The price can’t be beat, and the quality of work is top notch."

Mitch is a pleasure to work with. He was extremely prompt and professional when I was searching for someone to do job of roof. The price can’t be beat, and the quality of work is top notch. We are extremely happy with the finished product and new roof looks so much better than the old one and much more of a match to the house in the color.

"Very fast and efficient."

They came and checked my roof after a hail storm came through. They got my whole roof on my house and shed covered by my insurance all I had to pay was my deductible. Very fast and efficient.

"Very quick and great at the job."

Very quick and great at the job. Our roof was completed in one day and Mitch noticed right away that it was an issue for insurance to cover which helped saved us money. We had several other contractors look at the roof and committed 365 was the only company who told us we were missing shingles and that we had a possible claim for homeowners insurance.

"We highly recommend them!"

From the quoting processing through the project, we were very impressed. Communication was excellent. The crew is absolutely amazing. They work so hard and are detail-oriented. Even the hot summer days & our challenging roof design didn’t slow this crew down! The overall quality was excellent. We highly recommend them!

Ice Dams: 101

An ice dam is a ridge of ice that forms near the roof’s edge, prevents water drainage, and causes more ice to freeze and build up on the rooftop. Weather changes can cause ice dams, especially in cold climates, as winter turns to spring. The combination of temperature fluctuations and precipitation can cause uneven drainage of melting snow and rain runoff on the rooftops.

Insufficient insulation can also lead to ice dams forming over colder, more poorly insulated patches on your roof. The warmer, better-insulated parts of your roof will allow snow and ice to melt. When the temperature drops, that water will freeze again. From there, the problem can quickly snowball.

Leave it to the Professionals

Dealing with ice dams is a job best left to the professionals. Attempting to remove large ice dams without the proper equipment or knowledge can be dangerous and may cause further damage to your roof. If you suspect ice dams on your roof, call us. We know how to melt an ice dam without causing more harm to your property. Once the ice dam is out of the way, we can assess the condition of your roof and ensure it hasn’t sustained any significant damage.

Does an ice dam mean I need a new roof?

An ice dam doesn’t necessarily mean you need a new roof. Professional roofers can assess the ice dam and how much damage it’s caused so far. They can often remove the ice dam without damaging your home or building.

What ice melt is safe for metal roofs?

There are two safe ice melts for metal roofs: calcium chloride and magnesium. Both can be effective for metal roof ice dams, provided you follow the instructions correctly. We highly recommend leaving ice dam removal to the professionals.

How can I prevent ice dams from forming?

Preventing ice dams involves addressing the root causes. Annual roof inspections can also be a great way to solve problems preemptively. Roofers can ensure your attic is well-insulated to maintain a consistent roof temperature and that there’s adequate ventilation to regulate the temperature.

When it does snow, you can also use a roof rake to clear your roof. We do not recommend going up on your roof to remove snow.

Has My Home Suffered Damage From an Ice Dam?

Signs of ice dam damage include:

  • Water stains on the ceilings or walls
  • Peeling paint
  • Sagging gutters

If you notice these signs, inspect your attic for signs of water intrusion, such as wet insulation or discolored wood. Next, give our team a call. We’ll conduct a thorough inspection and address any hidden damage we uncover. Taking care of roof damage in the moment can prevent long-term issues down the road.
